Course Name:  “Applied Petroleum Geology for Engineers”

Course Dates & Location:  August 4-8, 2008 in Houston, Texas - Specific training facility to be announced soon.
 
Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for early career professionals, particularly degreed engineers with little or no formal training in geology.

What is the Course About?
We will build on your existing science and engineering background in order to enhance your professional growth in those areas of geology related to petroleum exploration and development.  This applied course will be centered around the concept of a Petroleum System – an integrated understanding of hydrocarbon source, migration, reservoir, trap, seal and timing.

Course Format
The course will be conducted informally, with lectures interspersed with discussions by all participants.  Exercises will reinforce introduced concepts, with attendees working as two-person teams.  Enrollment will be limited to 36 participants.

What will you learn?
You will gain a basic understanding of:

Factors that control hydrocarbon generation and accumulation,
Procedures used to find and produce hydrocarbons,
Data collection and interpretation techniques,
The roles and skills required of exploration and development professionals, and
The worldwide occurrence of hydrocarbon deposits.

Regular Rate - Member (After 7/7/08) - $3100
Regular Rate - Non-Member (After 7/7/08) - $3300

Cancellations/Refunds:

Cancellations made through July 17, 2008 will receive a refund, less the non-refundable registration fee of $200. Refunds are not available after July 17, 2008. Substitutions for individuals enrolled may be made at any time.
ASME-IPTI reserves the right to cancel a course if enrollment is insufficient to ensure maximum effectiveness. This decision is made approximately two weeks before the course begins. If this occurs, enrollees will receive a full refund or be given the opportunity to transfer to another course date. Keep our cancellation policy in mind when making airline reservations, as ASME-IPTI cannot be responsible for fees charged for canceling or changing your airline ticket.  Students are responsible for handling all travel arrangements and the costs associated with their travel.


Food:

A continental breakfast, afternoon snack and beverages will be provided each day of training.  Students are responsible for purchasing their own lunch.
