Dear Colleague:
I am pleased to serve as the Forum Chair for the first International Offshore Pipeline Forum (IOPF). The forum will be held October 24 & 25, 2006 in Houston, Texas. This is a joint project of the Petroleum, Pipeline Systems and the Ocean, Offshore and Arctic Engineering Divisions of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and was developed by your industry peers to meet the changing technological and educational needs of the industry.
The theme for the forum is “Building Deepwater Pipeline Infrastructure”. The General Session, which will focus on Opportunities/Issues/Challenges, will feature several key industry speakers. Carl Langner of Langner & Associates will provide an historical perspective of the offshore pipeline industry. BP’s Engineering Authority for the Gulf of Mexico, Rob Marshall, will present the topic “Lessons Learned in Building the Mardi Gras Pipeline System”. Richard Morgan, Chevron's Deepwater Focus Area Manager, will discuss the critical role deepwater pipelines will play as Chevron's production extends into deeper waters. Rounding out the session is Anadarko’s Mike McEvilly.
Technical sessions and presentations will take place on flow lines, risers, export pipelines, regulatory issues, installations and Operations/Integrity/Maintenance/Repair.
We know that your time is limited but you’ll want to stay for the wrap up session, which will provide you with workshop deliverables and opportunities for open dialogue with your peers and industry leaders.
Technology investigation works best in an intimate setting. Therefore the quality of the forum will be assured by limiting attendance to 250. This allows the programming committee to execute a more personalized experience for you.
So mark your calendars and plan to join us at the IOPF on October 24th.
Regards,
Gary Harrison, bp Workshop Chair
